The Genesis Elementary school calendar is set long before the beginning of school so that families can plan doctor/dentist appointments and vacations around the school schedule. We strongly urge that these activities be schedule to ensure that students do not miss valuable classroom instruction. If you MUST take your child out of school for an extended period of time, please let the administration and teacher know at least a week in advance.
Attendance Policies
- Students missing less than three days of school are required to bring a note from a parent explaining their absence from school.
- Absences due to illness that last three days or more, students must bring in a doctor’s note.
- Parents are asked not to pick up students early, unless there is a medical or family emergency.
Tardiness Policies
Students are required to be at school by 9:00 am, but should arrive by no later than 8:50am to report directly to their classroom. This time allows students to prepare for the day (sharpen pencils, turn in assignments, etc.). Genesis Elementary considers tardiness to be a very serious matter and it will be handled as such. An excused tardy is any tardy that is due to a medical or dental appointment, religious holiday, or funeral. Please be sure to provide documentation if your child is late to school due to one of these reasons.
Any other tardy will be considered an unexcused tardy and will follow the established tardiness policy.
1st unexcused tardy: official warning sent home to parents
2nd unexcused tardy: one recess taken away and warning sent to parents
3rd unexcused tardy: two recesses taken away and warning sent to parents
